Biomechanics and Wearables Laboratory

Dr. Chapman is accepting PhD applicants for Fall 2024

Overview

The Biomechanics and Wearables Laboratory (BWL) group is focused on improving clinical practice through better understanding human musculoskeletal biomechanics using novel technology, like wearable sensors and machine learning. This includes investigations continuously monitoring patient performance before and after joint replacements, development of wearables to evaluate pre- and post-partum status in expectant mothers, and assessment of rehabilitation compliance using wearables and machine learning. Our process focuses on developing solutions at the intersection between high quality engineering solutions, distinct clinical needs, and high-value healthcare through studies in the basic sciences, translational sciences, and clinical trials.
