The MHU-8 mission explored the effects of artificial gravity on the body. Mice launched aboard SpaceX27 and stayed on the International Space Station for a month, where they were exposed to different artificial gravity levels. They came back in the Dragon capsule and analyzed at Kennedy Space Center by an international team.
Dr. Mary Bouxsein’s team focused on musculoskeletal outcomes and this knowledge will help us determine the benefits of using artificial gravity in flight, and will allow us to directly compare it to what has been observed in our ground-based Partial Weight Bearing analogs.
