Biography

Anna Li is a senior double majoring in Chinese and Chemical Engineering on the pharmaceutical track. As a MARC U*STAR Trainee, Anna is excited to represent the program and plans to obtain a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences upon completion of her studies at URI. Anna shared that the MARC program, which supports underrepresented students, “inspires her to continue to motivate others to create diverse and accepting communities.”

Currently, Anna is working in Dr. Jie Shen’s lab developing novel 3D printed mini-tablets exhibiting dual release (immediate and sustained release) bilayer for pediatric administration. Anna’s MARC summer research experience (SRE) will be conducted in the laboratory of Dr. Anita Shukla at Brown University during the summer of 2023. She will work on the development of bacterial enzyme-responsive antimicrobial biomaterials for the treatment of chronic wound infections.

Anna is also part of the URI Chinese Language Flagship Program and serves as a student ambassador to welcome students and their families to campus. In her free time, Anna loves to cook, play volleyball, and spend time with her friends and family.
