Biography

Christina Surace is a junior double majoring in Biotechnology and Cell Molecular Biology on the Microbiology track. She is very interested in pursuing drug discovery and advancing human health through biomedicine. As a MARC U*STAR Trainee, Christina is excited to represent the program and plans to obtain a Ph.D. in biotechnology upon completion of her studies at URI. 

Over the summer of 2023, Christina completed a research internship at the New York Blood Center in Manhattan, NY. She worked in the Translational Research Department studying a blood treatment to expand the donor pool and create safer transfusion conditions.

In her free time, Christina enjoys lifting weights, playing basketball, and going out to eat with friends and family.
