Biography

Kelsey Hunter, from Warwick, RI, is a senior majoring in Biological Sciences, Anthropology, and Psychology representing the class of 2023. Kelsey works in the Howlett Lab researching Fanconi Anemia. After receiving interesting data from RNA-seq, they have been focused on investigating the mis-regulation of the retinoic acid pathway. The goals of her project is to localize ALDH1A1 in FA patient cells through subcellular fractionation immunoblotting and immunofluorescence. Since being in the Howlett Lab, Kelsey has participated in the 2021 RI-INBRE SURF program, the 2022 RI-INBRE SURE program, and the 2022 RI-INBRE SURF+ program. Kelsey is interested in pursuing a PhD in Cell Biology and continuing to work with human cell culture for my future research endeavors. When she is not in lab, she is either at the gym or going on mini road trips with her dogs!
