B.A. in Mathematics

Overview

The B.A. in Mathematics is a popular choice for students pursuing a degree in Education or another double major. The program allows you to explore the fascinating world of mathematics, and can be tailored to suit your individual needs and interests.

Curriculum

A total of 120 credits is required, at least 30 of which must be in courses numbered 300 or above. A minimum of 32 credits (maximum 45) must be in mathematics (MTH), including:

Required Courses

  • MTH 141: Calculus I
  • MTH 142: Calculus II
  • MTH 215: Introduction to Linear Algebra
  • MTH 243: Calculus for Functions of Several Variables
  • MTH 307: Introduction to Mathematical Rigor
  • MTH 316: Algebra

Plus 12 or more additional credits in MTH, at least 3 credits of which must be at the 400 level.

Note that credits earned in MTH 101, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, 111, 208, 209, or 362 cannot be applied toward this degree.
