Become a member of the Navy STEM Crew and help assist in K-12 STEM education!
NavySTEM offers a number of on-campus employment opportunities which give college students the chance to work with students in grades K-12 in and around Rhode Island. There are a number of outreach events that occur every year, with NavySTEM team members expected to run interactive activities which foster an interest in naval engineering and studies.
NavySTEM team members visit schools, where our program’s experiential learning curriculum builds interest in STEM skills, and take part in SMILE Nights, where students from under-privileged backgrounds are given more accessible STEM education, as well as other expo events (such as the Quonset National Guard STEAM Exploration day).
NavySTEM team members will also have the chance to run URI’s NavySTEM Summer camps, which occur regularly every summer. Here, middle schoolers are taught science and tech skills through adventure-based learning at URI’s Kingston campus through activities like bottle submarines, 3D pens, and SeaPerch submersibles.
