2. How different personality might effect our hearing
Members of the NeuralPC Lab at URI are interested in testing the influence of individual differences on auditory processing. For that reason, we are seeking individuals to participate in a brief research study with the goal to gain insight into how often people experience phenomena that could influence auditory processing.
Participants are asked to voluntarily complete a 22-item questionnaire that measures how often people experience phenomena that could influence auditory processing. The questions can be accessed by clicking on the below link and which will open a new window with the questionnaire in Qualtrics. Completing the questionnaire will take about 10 minutes. If you decide to participate you can opt-in to be entered into a $100 raffle. You can also opt-in to be contacted by our research team for a future follow-up study. If you opt-in to the raffle and/or future contact, we will also ask you to share with us your name and contact information (email address and/or phone number), so that we can contact you.
Participation in this research study is voluntary, meaning that you do not have to complete the questionnaire and you do not need to give permission to be contacted in the future. The decision to complete the questionnaire or be contacted will not affect any relationship(s) with the researchers or URI. There are no anticipated risks or benefits to you if you decide to complete the questionnaire. However, you may feel uncomfortable with answering certain questions and/or providing us with your contact information to participate in the raffle. You are allowed to skip any question you are not comfortable with answering.
You must be at least 18 years old to participate in this study. By completing and submitting the questionnaire you agree you are at least 18 and agree to participate. To protect your privacy, all identifiable data of this study will be kept private in a locked drawer and/or password-protected computer only accessible by the research team. We will not include any information that will make it possible to identify you in any sort of report we may publish. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have at neuralpclab@gmail.com. If you have any questions following this survey, you may contact Dr. Yalda Shahriari at yalda_shahriari@uri.edu or at 401-874-5368. This research has been approved by The University of Rhode Island Institutional Review Board.
