About NSP

The University of Rhode Island Office of New Student Programs (NSP) is committed to providing orientation and transition programs and services that are inclusive and student-centered. Our dedicated staff provides orientation programming for new students and their families, support in the form of intervention for students who need help navigating their academic experience, and professional opportunities that help students gain skills in mentoring and leadership.  We work in partnership with parents, family members, and other University services to support all students.

Your path to success at URI reaches beyond the classroom, and it begins with new student orientation and your first year. Whether you are joining us from high school or as a transfer student, we are committed to helping you transition to the URI community. All new students enroll in URI 101, a first year seminar course designed to help with your personal and academic transition.

Our staff is comprised professional staff and graduate and undergraduate students who plan and deliver events and support programs for new members of the URI community.
