About the Seminar

This course examines how AI tools can be used for creative expression and communication, considering some of the legal, ethical, and social issues of human-machine collaboration. Major theories of digital authorship as a pedagogical approach to digital literacy are explored through hands-on dynamic learning experiences that integrate digital media, technologies, and best practice strategies for teaching composition and authorship in a Web 2.0 world. This course is part of the Graduate Certificate in Digital Literacy at the University of Rhode Island.

About the Graduate Certificate in Digital Literacy

The Graduate Certificate in Digital Literacy includes four flexible graduate-level courses that can be taken in any order. Students may complete the certificate in one year or take up to four years to finish all 12 credits.

  • EDC 531 – Summer Institute in Digital Literacy (in-person)
  • EDC 532 – Digital Literacy (Fall, online)
  • EDC 534 – Digital Authorship (Spring, online)
  • EDC 535 – Tier 2 Summer Institute (in-person)

Who Can Enroll?

These courses (including EDC 534) are open to any graduate student in any program, and even to someone who is interested in taking a single course. Graduate students from other programs at URI and other universities around the country (and around the world) have successfully incorporated one or more of these four graduate courses into their academic degree programs.
