Biography

Philip Roberts received his B.A. degree from Northwestern University in 1981 and his J.D. degree from the George Washington University National Law Center in 1984.

During and after law school Phil worked for the law firm representing the Communications Workers of America and in private practice as a criminal defense lawyer in the District of Columbia. He began his career with the Federal Labor Relations Authority in 1986, working in the FLRA’s Atlanta, Chicago, and Boston Regional Offices, holding the positions of General Attorney, Regional Dispute Resolution Specialist, Regional Attorney, and Regional Director.

In 2018, he was appointed by Governor Charlie Baker as Director of the Massachusetts Department of Labor Relations and he was reappointed to this position by Governor Maura Healey.
