Biography

Tim Buckalew is a Westborough, Massachusetts-based labor arbitrator, interest arbitrator and mediator, with public and private sector experience across education, postal service and federal sector matters. Buckalew has handled a range of interest arbitration disputes, contract matters and related bargaining impasses.

Buckalew has been a full-time labor arbitrator, interest arbitrator and occasional mediator since 1985, and has made his home in Westborough, Massachusetts since 1975. He began his career with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Labor Relations Commission from 1983 to 1985. Early in his career, he was mentored by, and worked as an intern for, Jack Higgins and Alphonse D’Appuzzo. He has been a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators (NAA) since 1996.

Buckalew conducts hearings via the AAA, FMCS and LRC labor panels, and has served as an arbitrator for the USPS and several of its unions intermittently since 1996, as well as on Massachusetts higher education panels and other public and federal sector panels.

Buckalew is a graduate of West Virginia public schools, West Virginia University (1972), Harvard University (1975) and Northeastern University School of Law (1980).
