Program Overview

This Summer Skills Series, presented in partnership with the RI Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner (RI OPC) and the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center, makes upskilling accessible for RI’s healthcare workforce.

Candidates can choose to participate in multiple modules, or focus on one key development area:

Healthcare Leadership

Designed for current and emerging healthcare administrators, this 10-week course equips participants with the strategic thinking, communication, and management skills needed to lead effectively in today’s complex healthcare environment. Explore real-world scenarios through case studies, simulations, role playing, and other hands-on exercises.

Dates: June 3rd through August 5th

MedTech Drug Administration Training

This non-credit course is designed to meet the requirements of the Rhode Island Department of Health’s Rules and Regulations Pertaining to RI Certificates of Registration for Medication Aides.

Dates: June 3rd through July 22nd
Times: Tuesday & Thursday, 6:00pm-9:00pm
Location(s): Hybrid; Tuesdays at the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center, 350 Eddy St., Providence, Room 307 AND Thursdays, Remote Online Learning (Zoom)

Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid training introduces a successful prevention strategy, which aims to normalize conversations about mental health and equip individuals with foundational listening skills. Participants learn how to be effective listeners and provide support in various contexts, aided by the collaborative, application based approach of our Mental Health First Aid instructors.

For Healthcare Administrators: June 11th
For First Responders: August 6th
Location: Rhode Island Nursing Education Center, 350 Eddy St., Providence

Participants must complete an online module, which will take about 2 hours, prior to the in-person session.
