What motivates you to be visible on campus?
As a faculty member, it is my job to help students to get the most out of their experience here at URI. A critical component of this is to be authentic, to celebrate one’s self. How can this happen if a student is reluctant or afraid to be their self?
It is also personal as I have a son who is gay. How can I not support him.
I grew up in an inclusive home with lgbtq friends and family. It was never an ‘issue’ it just was! In class, I promote inclusiveness, understanding, an authenticity.
