Identity: Queer

What motivates you to be visible on campus?

I am motivated to be visible because I grew up in a town and attended a college with very few openly LGBTQ+ individuals. My interest in understanding LGBTQ+ health disparities emerged during graduate school, leading me to dedicate the past 15 years to studying the intersections of systematically marginalized identities in social interactions and healthcare.

In the Psychology Department, I am proud to serve as a faculty mentor for Queer, Uniting, and Inclusive Leaders (QUIL) and as a member of the Inclusion and Diversity Committee (IDC). These roles allow me to support and advocate for LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff and foster an inclusive and affirming environment at URI.
