Identity: Transfem

What motivates you to be visible on campus?

I have scarcely seen trans folk in my training and even more scarcely at the faculty level. Mostly just want people to know it is possible.

Prior to URI, I designed and ran pedagogy workshops at Yale University on a variety of topics, but including a “Gender in the Classroom” workshop. I was the first trans president of Yale’s Graduate and Professional Student Senate.

Since starting at URI, I’ve presented at QCAM–a queer in computational and applied mathematics conference, and additionally perform education research (in addition to my cancer research) on how intersections of identity interface with cross-disciplinary learning (like computational biology/bioinformatics, my field of study).
