Identity: Ally

What motivates you to be visible on campus?

Visibility can be a show of support, an alliance of interests. I remain hopeful, and am increasingly moved by the idea in my teaching, that visibility can be about changing the way others see. To me, being an LGBTQ ally is about recognizing others’ humanity in their identity…a kind of recognition you can’t just imagine or believe, but one you have to try and live.
