At the PEACH Lab, we study how families with young children navigate challenges and support their children’s development. Using different research methods, we explore how family beliefs and experiences affect children’s feelings and behaviors, and vice versa. Additionally, we investigate the wellbeing of parents and how it intersects with family dynamics. Our goal is to understand how different family situations and cultural beliefs influence how parents raise their children and maintain their own wellbeing. Through our research, we strive to empower all families to thrive.
The PEACH Lab is directed by Dr. Casey McGregor, who is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science at URI. Dr. McGregor began studying early child development and family relationships at Penn State Altoona where she received her bachelor’s degree. She then received her master’s and doctoral degrees in Human Development and Family Science from Virginia Tech where she focused her research on parenting decisions and mental wellbeing, children’s social-emotional and cognitive development, and multigenerational families.
The PEACH Lab is located in room 213 in the Transition Center at the University of Rhode Island’s Kingston Campus.
