The Rhody Esports Coalition (REC) is a collaboration group with members across academics, IT and student interest groups. Together the team has been working on research, data collection, partnership building, proposal writing, and pursuing potential funding pathways. REC meets every 3 weeks during the academic year.
eLab
URI IT Services and Memorial Union have teamed up to implement a new esports eLab, 2nd floor, room 317. The eLab has 4 dedicated gaming PCs and high speed internet access. eLab users must complete the necessary approvals and training prior to being granted access. Future plans are adding 2 more PCs in early 2025, streaming cards, a Minecraft server, and other enhancements and advancements.
The launch date is October 1, 2024
