Heather C. Allcock, Ph.D.

Biography

Heather C. Allcock Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Special Education in the Elementary Special Education Department at Providence College. Dr. Allcock teaches multiple undergraduate and graduate courses in special education. Dr. Allcock’s research agenda focuses on eliminating systemic, cultural, and educational barriers for students with significant support needs to ensure access to the general education curriculum. She has published numerous manuscripts and research studies in leading special education journals as well as presents nationally at national disability rights organizations. She is an active member of CEEDAR-RI technical assistance project focused on developing and reforming teacher education in Rhode Island. Dr. Allcock serves numerous collegiate and departmental committees including Faculty Senate, Academic Advising and Core Curriculum Committees. Dr. Allcock’s areas of expertise include Inclusive educational pedagogy, designing inclusive experiences for students with complex support needs and developing inclusive teaching expertise in pre-service teacher candidates.
