Biography

Kelly Acosta, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of special education at Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island. She currently teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in differentiated instruction for general educators, special education assessment, positive behavior supports and interventions, and post-secondary transition. Her research interests include teacher education, special education policy, and teacher shortages, with a focus in reading and using qualitative research designs. Prior to her work at Rhode Island College, Kelly was a special educator for over 13 years at Brockton High School in Brockton, MA.
