Matthew S. Taylor, PhD

Biography

Dr. Matthew Taylor is an assistant professor of special education and early childhood at Salve Regina University in Newport, RI. Dr. Taylor focuses his research on students with disabilities, specifically intellectual disabilities, and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities. Dr. Taylor also researches with current and future educators as they prepare their classrooms to work with students of all abilities using inclusive and equitable teaching practices. Dr. Taylor currently teaches both undergraduate and graduate pre-service and in-service teachers on assessment, assistive technology, reading, and family collaboration. Dr. Taylor has two bachelor’s degrees in early childhood education and psychology from Gordon College, a Master of Education in Reading from Salem State University, and a PhD in Exceptional Education from the University of Central Florida.
