Public Drinking Water

About 85% of Rhode Islanders depend on public water supplies for their drinking water. Public water systems pipe water for human consumption to homes, businesses and schools.  The majority of people served by public water systems do not understand where their water comes from, how their drinking water is monitored, or that monitoring results are public knowledge. Most customers are not aware of the threats to their drinking water quality or that they can help protect drinking water supplies.
