Biography
Markeisha Miner is the Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer in Community, Equity, and Diversity at the University of Rhode Island. She is a first-generation college graduate in her immediate family and the first in her extended family to complete professional school, making her journey a powerful example of perseverance and achievement. After working for a judge and practicing law, she transitioned into higher education to focus on supporting students and helping them reach their full potential. Her professional path is grounded in both legal and educational experience, with a strong commitment to equity and student success. As a mentor, Markeisha encourages students to trust themselves and recognize the value of everything they bring into academic spaces, reminding them, “You have everything you need when you walk into these spaces. Trust yourself and all that has been poured into you.”
