Biography

CJ Sanchez is a Career Education Specialist in the Center for Career & Experiential Education at the University of Rhode Island. As a first-generation college student, CJ did not initially see higher education as part of his path, as neither of his parents attended college. After coming to URI, he experienced significant personal and academic growth, which ultimately shaped his passion for helping students navigate their own journeys. His professional work is centered on supporting students as they explore careers, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward their goals. CJ is committed to providing students with the same kind of encouragement and support that helped him succeed, while also helping fill gaps that students may encounter along the way. As a mentor, he encourages students not to limit themselves due to uncertainty or fear, reminding them that their experiences and perspectives outside the classroom are valuable and transferable. He emphasizes the importance of hard work, perseverance, and adaptability, and inspires students to confidently take the first step into their future pathways.
