Biography

Keegan Scott is the Director of the Office of Fellowships at the University of Rhode Island, housed within the Honors Program. He began his undergraduate journey by navigating much of his academic path through self-advising as an International Studies major, which led him to discover and pursue fellowship opportunities. This experience opened the door to teaching abroad for several years through the Fulbright program. He later continued his academic work at Georgetown University, where he earned his graduate degree in Eurasian Studies. Keegan went on to work as a contractor for the U.S. Department of State before transitioning into higher education, where he first supported Fulbright by recruiting faculty and now advises students at URI through the Office of Fellowships. His career reflects a strong commitment to global learning, opportunity access, and student mentorship. As a mentor, Keegan is passionate about helping students uncover and navigate the many opportunities available to them, including those that may feel hidden or unfamiliar. He encourages students to take initiative and reach out to others, reminding them that even cold-calling can be a powerful way to build connections, share ideas, and open doors to new experiences.
