The University of Rhode Island is committed to cultivating a safe, respectful, and inclusive community where all students can thrive. Hazing, in any form, is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.
In compliance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act, we are dedicated to transparency and accountability in addressing hazing incidents. This report provides detailed information on instances where there is a finding of hazing following a report to campus security authorities or local police, which includes the nature of the incidents, the organizations involved, and the outcomes of investigations. By openly sharing this information, we aim to raise awareness, promote prevention, and ensure the well-being of all students.
What is the purpose of the Stop Campus Hazing Act?
- Improves hazing reporting by requiring colleges to include hazing incidents in their Annual Security Report (“Clery Report”)
- Prevents hazing by establishing campus-wide, research-based hazing education and prevention programs
- Helps students and their parents make informed decisions about joining organizations on campus by requiring colleges to publish hazing incident transparency reports on their websites
