Biography

Jeffrey Bratberg, PharmD, is a Clinical Professor in Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Research at the University of Rhode Island. He teaches and conducts work in public health, addiction, health policy, and infectious diseases, and has been a member of the URI faculty since 2002. A first-generation college student himself, Dr. Bratberg grew up in a small rural town in Minnesota and was the second person in his family to attend college, following his older brother at Northwestern University. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from North Dakota State University and completed postgraduate training in Wisconsin and Michigan before beginning his academic career. Drawing from his own experience navigating higher education, Dr. Bratberg is committed to supporting first-generation students as they build confidence, find direction, and learn to navigate academic systems. He is especially focused on helping students develop practical skills for success in college and beyond, including time management, goal setting, and career exploration, while also addressing challenges such as imposter syndrome and accessing opportunities. His guiding message to students is simple: stay curious, find your people, and persevere.
