Biography
Vianka Hiciano is an Admission Officer in Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Rhode Island. She began her educational journey at URI through the Talent Development Program, where she earned her degree in Communication Studies and Human Development and Family Science. After graduating, she worked for a nonprofit organization in Providence, gaining valuable experience and skills that ultimately led her back to higher education. She now supports prospective students through her role in Undergraduate Admissions and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Youth Development at Rhode Island College. As a first-generation college student, Vianka understands the challenges of navigating higher education without a clear roadmap. She is deeply committed to supporting students throughout their transition to college and beyond, ensuring they feel seen, supported, and empowered to achieve their goals. As a mentor, she reminds students that there are people and resources available to help them succeed and encourages them to seek out that support. She emphasizes perseverance and resilience, reminding students to never give up and to trust that others are invested in their success.
