MEETING START TIME: 2:15 pm

ATTENDANCE: Present: Conboy, Meehan, Patterson, Underwood

COMMITTEE DISCUSSION:

  • Memorial Union
    • Talked about the firms
    • Proposal by end of June
  • Outdoor Message Boards
    • Have boards in various places around campus to help with advertising for events and possibly have a campus map
    • We want an attractive looking board that is wider than a door, but not too large
    • Want it to be attractive and enhance campus
    • Primary locations are in front of the library, bus stop by Chaffee, and by Hope
  • RIPTA
    • Amanda talked to Sherrie Davis and she said that the tracking systems are installed on some shuttles. The problem is that the technology is not working for some reason. The signal from the shuttles will not transfer to the phone. There are people who are working on it. She will need our help when it comes to letting students know about it.
  • Living on Campus
    • We want to find a way to help student enjoy living on campus. Students who live on campus typically do not enjoy living here because there is very little for them to do, especially on weekends. In state students go home on weekends. Out of state students go home or are stuck here with nothing to do.
    • We want to do something to change this. We want to help students enjoy living on campus at URI.
      • Action: Have a Friday or Saturday night even in the fall (September or October)
        • Potentially laser tag
  • Miscellaneous Ideas
    • Potentially have twinkling lights on the sidewalk leading to the library in the winter.
  • Fall:
    • Outdoor message boards
    • Safety and Lighting walk
    • Message boards
