COMMITTEE DISCUSSION:

• Updates:
• Chris Cicero met with Melvin Wade, MCC Director, and Anne, LGBT Center Director
  • Wade: talked to Wade about diverse rooming assignments with HRL
• Diversity Week:
• Activities we did last year: Stand up, Sit down. Posters discussing exclusion (cultural issues) on campus, etc.
• Student Senate will be presenting on October 1st, 3:00 – 3:50PM
• Tasks: Create agenda for the workshop and come up with more ideas
• Homecoming:
• We had a booth and made caramel apple
• Tasks: Get the tent (and set up), caramel, toppings, apples (100+):
  • Cicero will get the tent
  • Pickard will talk to Longa, who had previously gotten apples donated to us before
  • St. Pierre will talk to one of our friends
  • We can contact East Farm to see if we can volunteer hours for apples
• Ace of Cakes:
• Last year, we had Student organizations make a cake to win a prize based on a certain criteria; this year, we want to open it up to anyone (e.g. Greek life, res halls, etc.) but we also want to open it up for collaboration
• It may be able to replace the gingerbread house event
• Tasks:
  • Not yet discussed
• Increase communication between MC student organizations
• Cultural affairs will start trying to attend at least one meeting of each MC student organization (19 MCC groups?)
• Tasks:
  • Sim will talk to MCC Director Wade about contacting the MC groups’ president and find out their meeting times
• Other initiatives:
• Do an annual dance
  • Get a photo booth, find a DJ (student), find a venue (Ryan Center, Mackal, Union)
• Water Fire at Ellery Pond
  • Get photo booth, get vendors and performances from the student organizations to bring in community together a few times each semester
