  1. URI Memory club
    • train under Jim Carroll
    • hope to attend a big memory competition at the end of March
    • play memory games for practices
    • 15 people in group
    • meet every two weeks
    • can only bring 6 people to the competition
      1. non-competitors still learn memory skills even if they don’t go on the trip
    • Move to be recognized as a funded organization: 8-0-1
  2. Chess club
    • purpose- get together, play chess, learn about the game
    • looking for money to purchase better equipment (large easel boards for visual presentations, books, and designated club boards)
    • 4th or 5th meeting nominations took place and the following week there was a secret ballot election
    • 17 members
    • Meet in Lippitt Hall Wednesdays at 6:30
    • Recognize URI Chess Club as a funded organization: 9-0-0
  3. Running Club
    • meet monday-Friday at varying times
    • will conduct facebook poll
    • running distances will vary
    • elections were conducted to senate standards
    • Recognize Running Club as a funded organization: 9-0-0
  4. Saudi Club
    • purpose- to provide support to new study abroad students
      1. host and guide the international student
      2. provide assistance to students taking arabic
      3. create different committees such as sports, hosting, and women committees
    • Nov. 1st were first round of nominations and then elections were closed yesterday
    • grad students are involved in the group but not officers
    • want to connect URI Saudi Club to a national Saudi organization
    • Move to recognize The Saudi Club as a funded group: 9-0-0
  5. Committee Discussion
    • Salsa cannot reserve space anymore
      1. 15 reservations were cancelled
    • Sankofa is not following through on recognition
    • start to thinking of a group for group of the month next week
