Executive 10-20-2010

Coates, Prata, Segal, MacKinnon, Sinapi, Cologna, Messineo, Pezza

Campus

Sinapi: Getting the movies from tour guiding tomorrow to review they’re private right now. Consensus with how they behaved. No appeal to firing. Nothing at the moment on Safe ride program. College acb as of now policy is good. Thing where you can self moderate posts and report it. And once it’s high up it gets auto removed. It has to be specific. On paper it looks good but I need to look at the site and see.

Coates: It doesn’t take into account how many active users.

Sinapi: Sent messages to get feedback on Tootel. Want all specifics and made clear we want to work with them. Also for maps I emailed the people who make it so we can work with them and change them. We want to make it up and down so people can recognize it. Confused with the GPS tracking guy. I remember looking him up and he never got back to me.

Coates: Talk to his secretary

Mackinnon: Where maps going?

Sinapi: Maybe small versions on blue lights, but huge on bulletin boards.

Coates: Address incidents of violence and robbery. So cigar knows we think it’s important. Bring up beating and assault on campus. Mention safety and lighting walk and safe walk program.

Cologna: Release a press release on robberies, it was 4 days ago that’s unacceptable.

Coates: They needed to wait a bit so not to panic people. Invite people to your meeting Sinapi and talk about it. Talk to cultural about Ellery. Give Branford all stuff you’re raising money for, all the things you want to do. And try to come up with how much it would cost and then fundraising is on him.

Academic

Cologna: Finally got approval for readership in CBLS. Setting up meeting about moving from fine arts to CBLS. Provost student advisory meeting, talked about making gen eds more efficient. Drop date earlier or splitting class to modules. I don’t know how that would prepare students for harder classes. Mentioned poli sci specifically, making it easier to navigate through your major. Gen eds might now qualify you for 300 levels and you might not be able to graduate on time. Wants to make sure there’s no outdated stuff. Uped incoming freshman requirements and took less freshmen. See what happens. Talked about drop date. Admin wants to make it earlier. Not really in favor.

Coates: Last year academic calendars would decide drop date. One of the professors wanted to make it one day.

Cologna: Talked about average number of credits taken at university. We have average 13 where other universities have 15. That’s their rationale. 2 academic complaints, one was handled but student wasn’t satisfied. Going to ombud to file academic complaint. Sent our course materials presentation, not on agenda for faculty senate meeting this month. Aim for next month. Syllabus skeleton on hold right now

Treasurer

MacKinnon: Paying for all the stuff talked about and will talk about

Pezza: T-shirts, final count tonight after we elect more people. Guy keeps calling me. I’m going to give people a week to give me money. Kim and send email. I’d like to get order in. Bought card for Dooleys and starting condolence card for girl who passed away.

Prata: Another condolence card for enrollment services director?

Coates: Bill on floor

SOARC

Messineo: Rerec done.

Coates: Everything consistent

Messineo: Not on bill are 3 late groups and 2 I talked to about 4th group hand in stuff on time.

Coates: Will I have multicultural organizations coming in asking about categories?

Messineo: All same as last year except 1 you asked to change. Speakeasy handed in on time but not on there. Bigger issues.

Coates: IFC and Panhel?

Messineo: Take off because they don’t get voted on because have compact.

Secretary

Segal: Should I send sign up for homecoming?

Coates: Yes

President

Coates: CIO bill on floor, please be in favor. Somebody handling motion to amend, but somebody needs to amend recommendation. 3 people didn’t vote.

Cologna: New vote

Coates: For amendments in bill, can’t amend to change again unless passed by ¾.

Cologna: For recommendation am I motioning for re-recommendation.

Coates: Sure. Make sure motion for new business then old business so out of the way before special election. We need to do bill before internal. Memorial bill on floor as well. Do that I’ll then do CIO bill. If passes needs somebody to pass under special orders add for CIO.

Prata: ¾ for CIO.
