Please follow the script below for talking to businesses regarding donations.

Hi my name is (insert name here)

I am a part of the Cultural Affairs Committee for the University of Rhode Island Student Senate. I am calling to follow up with you regarding the possibility of (insert name of business here) donating a prize for our cake decorating event Ace of Cakes. Is there anyone available who I can speak to about this?

ONCE YOU GET SOMEONE ON THE PHONE

  • answer any questions they have about the event:
    • Place: Memorial Union Ballroom
    • Time: 5-8pm
    • Day: Thursday February 25th

Remember we are asking for prize donations for winning teams!! If they have questions about donating to Rhody Outpost directly you can take their contact information and give it to me and I can call and give them more information about that.

IF THEY WANT TO DONATE: ask them when would be the best time to pick up their donation. We need to pick up donations BEFORE THURSDAY. DO NOT FORGET TO THANK THEM FOR THEIR DONATIONS AND OR TIME!!!!!!!!!!

 

  • Ace of Cakes starts at 5 but we must arrive at 4:30 for set-up
  • Michelle will be going to BJs right after the meeting
  • This year’s mystery item may be straws
  • Over $400 in Ace of Cakes prizes
  • Maureen and Michael Nolfe are set to judge so far
    • Potential future judges include John Sears and Amanda Downey
  • 9 teams are set to win prizes
    • For senators on team the team can win but Senators can’t get a prize
  • Need to follow up with places we haven’t heard back from
    • Committee members must call their place by the end of tomorrow
    • Ro: Caliente, U-spirit, Kingston pizza, Rhode House
    • Kyla: Bagelz
    • Sean: International pocket, 401 Coffee Shop, hair salon
    • Brittany: Elle G, Pier Pizza, Rhody Joe’s, El Fuego
    • Michelle and Kevin: Cools Beans, Brewed, Shogun, Mews
  • Email went out to Women’s Panel- look forward to hearing back from them
