COMMITTEE DISCUSSION:
- Bylaws Amendment
- During the general senate meeting a few weeks ago, there was a heavy debate on what constitutes as a funded organization or an unfunded organization.
- 5 Senator bill brought to SOARC by Riley Temple to clarify what constitutes an academic group:
- Groups that receive funding from any university department or office.
- One time donations do not count as regular funding from university departments
- Groups whose purpose is to supplement the mission/goals of a university department.
- Favoring students of a specific academic program or receiving regular instruction from a professor, lecturer, etc.
- Categorization of organizations will be up to the digression of SOARC and the general senate body.
- Groups that receive funding from any university department or office.
- The bill will be brought to the Academic Committee on Wednesday for their opinions.

- Mandatory requirements as of 1/23/2017
- Group is a funded non-affiliate
- Office hours or equivalent time spent performing duties of position
- Organization has been recognized by senate for 2 calendar years
- Position has been documented for 3 semesters under senate
- Elections are conducted according to Student Senate Standards
- Free or unique service of Group
- Free or unique Service of Position within group
- Goal is to complete stipend review before budgeting is completed.
