COMMITTEE DISCUSSION:

 

  • President o Met with Kelly Mahoney on DACA update. Dooley’s stance is clear: the University will not help ICE Agents.
    • According to her, this is not a sensitive area.
    • ICE Agents will contact school, but we will not help them.
    • Gina paying for them, but getting students to renew their DACA o Sexual Violence education thing at retreat o SafeZone Report
    • Next Week; Kathy and Thorr Oct 10
  • Vice President o Scholarship, started on Monday o Emailed IFC and PanHel on Zompa o Communicating face to face about these may be better than emails o One on Ones going well.

  • Directors of Communications:
    • Went to meeting with Cigar, letter to the editor RE: Press Release o IT Governance Finance Committee o Fencing
  • SOARC/Elections o Two recognition bills o ReRec extended to this Friday.
    • Student groups submitting both 34/130.
    • 21/130 sent one thing and need to send the other. o Short by 70 groups or so that have submitted nothing.
    • Nominated Amanda Marino as Vice Chair o (8-0-0) o The request for recount was last Friday. Will happen tomorrow at 4:00 PM. Only recounting at-large. Academic Affairs Committee o Busy weeks, lots of emails
    • Create an announcement to the College of Nursing that if you get in trouble for something related to the shuttle and your professors get mad, they should not be and should not reprimand you.
    • I would like to see the Academic Calendar Committee be more open minded to change
  • Campus Affairs Committee oSee report
  • Cultural Affairs Committee o We are discussing Ace of Cakes. Increasing decoration time to one hour and judging time to 30 minutes.
    • Going to T’s and looking for funds all for Ace of Cakes o Diversity Theme, ‘What is Privilege?’
    • I contacted slow foods to partner for Fall Fest. Contacted a local farm to get 200 pumpkins. Going to Walmart for paint and so on.
    • Emailed disability director about the disability event we plan on holding. Waiting for response.
    • Spirit of Giving Toy Drive contacted me. We plan on adopting a family. o Working on TED Talk. College of Business received the license. The chair of the business college was not interested in letting us use their license for a TED Talk related to Mental Disorders.
  • External Affairs Committee o Setting up the clean-up for this Saturday o Advertising for the event is going well.
    • Members have been reaching out to groups as well as the Cigar.
    • Lisa Masters is giving us many supplies. o Car-Pool and Sign-Up sheet are live.
    • First Rhody Outpost is coming up on October 18th. We have a good number of sign-ups.
    • Talked about Commuter Appreciation Day. Reached out to the 2100. They want to sponsor our event for us.
    • Disperse magnets.
    • Narragansett Town Council did not really have anything related to students.
    • Meetings are on YouTube.
  • Bylaws
    • Discussed Article 2, the Bill for Article 2 will be introduced next week.
