TOPIC 1: Paul Whitney Director of Campus Store
- Want to get back to institutionally owned store vs. privately owned store
- Student watch survey shows how faculty and students perceive/use course materials
- No questions in end of course survey pertaining to how relevant or helpful the course materials are to the course
- There are a lot of “required” course materials that may not be required for different students way of learning for the class
- Wants to establish meeting with academic affairs committee more often and meeting with other staff from the campus store as well
- Publishers will bundle with university custom edition materials, same content as another source but cannot be found through amazon or other sources
- Pilot program with BIO 101 and Dr. Dewsbury took the bundle of books recommended for the course and put it online for $78 and they had free access for the first two weeks in case you wanted to drop the class
- Have been lowering margins, bringing in used books and past editions, etc. to help with course materials costs
- Open Educational Resources(OER) cites used for some courses
- These companies are subsidized and they rely on donations to function so it may be difficult to utilize
- Trying to not put required on materials that don’t use over 60% of the text for the class
- Textbook buyback for up to 50% of the new book price
- On Campus course material survey has a money reward incentive which helps to get a larger number of survey participants
- Encourage students shopping where they want and buying only what they need
- He has provided our committee with 2016-2017 On Campus survey data
- Book back sale with $5 for a bag full of books available until November 16th
- Give the stores staff opportunities to take on more specialized work or projects that help both the staff and the university
- Early adoption helps to get more rental books or used books that cost less money
TOPIC 2: Johnny is meeting with the provost tomorrow
- He is going to ask about election day, final exam schedule, OER, his plans and goals for the year, how he is willing to work with Academic Affairs Committee and Senate in the future, etc.

- Uber is offering free rides to the poles!!!!
