DISCUSSION:
Topic 1: Bookstore survey
- Bookstore representatives joined us with their affordable materials survey
- National Student Watch survey by On Campus Research to better understand the needs of the student body; questions include: where students prefer to shop, do they sell books, prefer printed vs online, customer experience; takes approximately 15 mins
- National grand prize incentive- $1000 gift card, 5 $50 giftcard winners to URI students
- How to promote (handouts, email blasts, social media), recommended that they reserve a booth in the student union
- Currently at 1,013 participants, in 2nd place, need another 450
- Last day to participate is November 3rd (can request additional days), national data incites positive changes; compare national data to URI data
- Faculty survey coming up in the Spring
Topic 2: Our Survey
- We should still do ours; shorter, easier to complete, with the specific questions we need answers to
- Avoid quantitative data
- Affordable Task Force bringing a bill to the floor saying whenever possible, try to encourage OER: needs more structure, needs specific instructions
- Chairman Temple to begin the process of speaking on the Faculty Senate floor, starting the conversation
Topic 3: Deans failing to respond to liaisons
- Schedule next month’s meeting when you’re actually meeting with the Dean
- Have the Dean of the College of Health Sciences speak to other deans about their responsibilities?
- Transition materials have been lacking

- When to meet for next semester- is subject to change
- Ongoing ordeal with the College of Nursing: student rights, implementing a meal plan in Providence, RIPTA schedule and reliability
- Faculty Senate on the 16th, 3-5pm
- Edit the affordable materials survey document by next meeting
