ATTENDANCE:

Committee: Chair Blancheflower, Vice Chair Nelson, Senator Bagley, Senator Menard, Senator McGrath, Senator Padro, Senator Bhat, Senator Wood, Senator Degnan

Absent: Senator Rumas

Non-Committee: Senator Marotta

 

DISCUSSION:

TOPIC 1: Carl Styles

  • Blue Lights
    • Increased overall count
    • Installed 2 blue lights with cameras
    • Added camera to blue light at welcome center
    • Added the blue light with camera at FAC and Kingston fire department
    • Verified that 4 of the 5 Alton Jones phones are operational
    • Had MTS repair the blue light phone at Eddy Circle
    • Improved the light function from 68 to 80 (+12) working units
    • Increased call function from 71 to 86 (+15)
    • The unchecked phones decrease from 32 to 23 (-9)
  • We should have another safety and lighting walk in the spring

TOPIC 2: Bus

  • Going to talk to Joe Paradise
  • Want to create a route to the Gender and Sexuality Center and Women’s Center

TOPIC 3: Route 138

  • No blue light
  • No sidewalk
  • No streetlights

TOPIC 4: Laundry

  • We are trying get a laundry plan included with the price of housing

TOPIC 5: Sustainability

  • We should switch to paper straws
  • We should switch the cups at Rams Den, so they can be recycled
  • Increase the amount of water filling stations
  • Decrease the amount of single use plastic bottles on campus
  • Increase the amount of reusable water bottles on campus
