COMMITTEE DISCUSSION:

 

  • SADIV (Student Affairs Diversity Committee)- McQuade
  • Committee goals:
    • Professional Development
    • Improved communication and celebration
    • Want to hold an event for the Fall
    • Focus on civility and Holocaust Week
  • Rhody Paws- April 28th, 11-3 PM
  • Solomon and Maynard met dogs in Barlow
  • 15 dogs, goal is 20
    • pugs, golden retrievers, full list to come
  • Search and Rescue
    • Ton of insurance
    • Will be set up in a different area with equipment, obstacles, and scents
    • There will be an info booth about search and rescue
    • Put on through one of the RI cops services
  • Jennifer Anderson
  • URI police officer is a member
    • 2 canines, 4 dogs total
    • Demonstration all day along with dogs
  • Kathy will email info about dogs after spring break
  • Volunteers from Student Senate
    • She’ll let us know when people will be arriving to send people to retrieve them from the parking lots
  • What if it rains both days?
    • Ballroom is booked
    • Booking a room could be iffy
    • Maybe the atrium or Mackal Gym—more room and area
  • Donations
    • Pet Partners is a national corporation (last year we gave the donations to them), but they don’t really need the money  
    • This year donations will be donated to local animal shelter
  • Toys, collars, money,  
    • Maynard: Contact Tony Mallilo about donations and extra credit
    • Last year we raised about $167

  • License is free
  • Must bring in your own speaker, who cannot be paid
    • Or you can have a screen and show a previously recorded one not preferable)
  • Can’t all be on the same topic (so not everything can be about diversity)
  • Capped at 100 people in the auditorium
    • each viewing room can only have 100 people as well
    • Only one live webcast in a room with a max of 100 people
  • You can have a sponsor, but you need an application for sponsorship
