Call to Order: 7:09 p.m.

 

I. External

  • Coalition meeting this Thursday 6:30-8 in the ballroom. TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THIS WE WANT STUDENTS TO COME!
  • After this, going to focus on recycling program , money from town manager, going to form a committee to discuss best option
  • Town manager is trying to charge surf club more money than before

II. Campus

  • Been sick in bed
  • Tried to establish delegation but almost everyone had legitimate excuses for not being at meeting
  • Hertz- We should contact students from other schools that have this program.
  • Zipcar is the other option, but its very restrictive.

III. DOC

  • Newsletter is done, was waiting on NASA but they never answered us
  • Switched to breakdown of new recognition (RAMS)
  • SAWA’s adds did not work because they had to wait so they are putting two more in today.
  • Cigar put in elections adds after elections so we are getting money back from them
  • Going to put an ad in the Cigar for the coalition meeting

IV. Finance

  • Bill for money to SEC on floor tomorrow (Jim Gaffigan)
  • Bill to pay for busses to bring kids from campus to the BC/URI basketball game.
  • Potential person for computer tech
  • Finance 101 was informative
  • Met with guy from WASP, demoed an inventory tracking system (to monitor supplies)
  • Talked to Bruce, need to see comparable systems

V. Treasurer

  • Paying the bills

 

VI. Cultural

  • Holiday fair November 30th from 7-10 p.m., 8 groups have shown interest
  • Clothing drive still in process, need to find drop off locations

VII. SOARC

  • Meeting went well but people did not sign in
  • Re-rec due tomorrow by 6:30, have 30 out of 80something
  • Definitely enough communication, groups are just dumb
  • If they don’t get it in they have to wait about 3 weeks until other group’s paperwork is reviewed. They will not be recognized for this time and cannot get money.

VIII. Vice President

  • Senate orientation Wednesday 10/14 from 5-6:30
  • Everyone has to go
  • Ice breaker
  • How to speak on floor
  • Breast cancer walk- GO!!! It is October 25th, $200 goal
  • Allen’s house= possible party after senate meeting
  • Senate formal- shooting for Thursday December 10th, 2nd to last day of classes, Amalfi again
  • Reading day is Monday December 14th

IX. President

  • Sorry I was not on campus, had a sinus infection
  • Meeting was under 30 minutes- apathy or lack of material?
  • Committees need to create projects to work on, this semester or next semester, easy or complicated
  • We get paid activities tax, so we need to work for it
  • Going to say the same thing to the general senate at meeting
  • When people motion to adjourn, Vidhi can say no.
  • Allen can give finance 101 presentation or go over Robert’s rules of order
  • Soon everyone will have full committees so no longer an excuse
  • Jim Gaffigan tickets on sale, Kim has a list of buildings that need flyers, pick up and distribute
  • Homecoming next week- PROMOTE!
  • Hot dog contest- now with buns and 5 minutes
  • Provost Hayes and VP Alfonzo teaming up for students to do research projects- $40,000
  • Meeting with President’s leadership team next Tuesday from 4-6 in Green Hall conference room
  • Project discussion next Wednesday closed meeting
  • Lobbyist affiliate- temporary committee will report to external
  • Andrea Hopkins will help us- assistant VP for Public relations
  • New exec time for next month- Wednesday at 5
  • Rachael Gaudio Vice Chair for Campus, 9-0-0
  • Article in ProJo, URI tuition is increasing 9.9% for in-state tuition ($10,460) and 4.5% for out-of-state tuition ($27,000)
  • What are we discussing with President?
  • It is to get our ideas on floor and President will do the same, find common ground
