• Welcome Day Orientation:
o New requirement to set up the day before from 4-5
President’s Report (read by Hetland)
• Working on forming Elections and Stipends Committee
o The process of stipending needs to be clarified
• Next exec meeting have tangible goals you want to achieve for next year
• 3 bills going on floor next week

SOARC Report
• Had meeting with MCC, Bruce, etc and they discussed problems groups have about the way Senate has been operating
o Concerns about recognition, funding, and dealing with student groups
o Ideas:
1 page update about how to fund groups
Expand SOARC website
• Should a detail rubric be created for how to recognize and fund groups? Groups want tangible standards/rubric
o Maybe a By-laws change
Examination of missions and actions and put them into a tangible form
o Create two rubrics
External one: explanation of funding, etc
Internal one: “guidelines” for the future
• MUSIC recognition is coming up and they are looking for funding
o Would be recognized as Affiliate because of selectivity-must be a multicultural group or “social change” group
o MUSIC-leaders of various multicultural organizations that are working together to help better the growth/functioning of their organizations
Promote events
4 Committees: Events and Programming, CPR-Communication and Public Relations, Assessing Student Organizational Needs, and Finance-sole purpose of helping organizations find funding for their events; have a $5000 grant from CED
Finance chair could hurt or help-can help clarify recognition process…
o Contingently approve for stipends?
o Would need to change mission statement and focus if they want stipends
Leave to stipend committee
• Someone from Finance and SOARC should be on committee
o Want policies on financing
• Next week is last chance to submit any request for recognition (informally the 14th)
External
• Need members for committee!!

DOC:
• Want to reorganize the website/change structure; not clear enough
• Exam rights:
o Tweet them out maybe every other day talking about rights,etc
• Looking at old newsletters and want to go back to old way or try new way

CIO Report
• Want to reorganize the website/change structure; not clear enough
• Idea of making CIO someone who has full IT responsibilities-full access to website and ability to handle all issues
• Create a visual in the office that introduces the main faculty of Senate/Union
• Create a masterlist of liaisons so people know what positions exist and how to contact these people-basically solidify liaisons positions to make transitioning easier
• Create a By-Laws/Robert’s Rules quiz
o Have 2 tries
o Open notes
o More of making sure they understand it rather than have it memorized
o 20 questions
Academic:
• Liaisons all have new emails
• Working on a new template for liaison reports
• Final Exam Rights: working with DOM to laminate and really publicize the key points

Cultural Report
• Ted Talks in the work
• Hasbro Event-Danceathon
o Food, dancing,
• Fall Freshman event-
o Teaming with Campus to do a food (taste of RI-Dels, Piggy’s, etc), laser tag
• More programming for weekends/weeknights
Treasurer Report
• SOLC has an issue with not having the same numbers as the Accounting Office
o Paperwork is probably incorrect/has not been updated
DOM
• Incoming freshman information folder was received
o Need to work on it
• Will work on Exam Rights

o Sign ups: 11-3 so need 3 people per slot
Campus Report
• Work with Finance and offer a “course” to the multicultural groups on how financing works
• Dorm Tour-online tour that allows you to view the different dorms
o Helps with packing and knowing what dorms to pick in the future
• Dorm rights-put into folder
• Many groups want to cosponsor 5k’s
o Senate 5k?
Finance Report
• Groups come to me asking SOARC type questions
o Trying to redirect this power to SOARC-give SOARC more recognition
• Need to work on stipending w/ SOARC
• Hempfest coming up
• IFC/Panel
o Two positions were cut: Service and Involvement and Executive VP
o Everything that passed through SOARC passed through us so there’s no problems
• Handbook:
o Something will be on the floor in the next couple of weeks
o Will contain all of our policies on what can be enforced and contains pertinent information for groups
o Work on stipending for groups like Cigar
Money has to be raised by them to provide stipends
o Each position will be talked about on the floor

o Don’t itemize everything for the sake of time
