DISCUSSION:
- Email from Dr. Doogan – from lawyers (students’ parents – complaint letters)
o Will be student lawsuits – effect on town?
- Narragansett town council steadfast in restrictions
- Meeting with chief of police (Pavlik):
o New ordinances: sheet received with fines etc.
o No towing ban in bonnet , other towing bans in effect
o Effort now is to get owners to get renters to realize houses are in a residential neighborhood – quality of life in that type of neighborhood, permanent residences unhappy
o Harassment/discrimination towards college students: police under a lot of pressure from town council because of unhappy permanent residents (‘town council’s orders’)
o Majority of force is sent to loudest neighborhood
o Don’t believe to be violating rights
o Fines have already been getting paid, impact being made
o Officers HAVE to give you badge number (by law): if not, can find it online in the day ‘s log
- Hill – looking into parking in neighborhoods
- Kilduff- communicated with liaison to the council who said they want to lessen rules while increasing enforcement
