COMMITTEE DISCUSSION:

  • Marine Science Society
    • Would like to transport members to aquarium and to participate in a whale watch in order to educate themselves in the marine affairs field. They would receive a group pricing and college student discount. They have on average 15 members. These 15 members are selected from members who continuously attend and have participated in events so far.
    • Have done fundraising through “fish pong” as their main event.
    • They do not receive funding from CBLS but they do look for help from professors in the field for other events.
    • $764.25 for whale watch and aquarium visit with student discount.
    • Senate can provide half, being $382.13.

  • Alpine Team
    • Contingency Grant for Eastern Conference and Division championship
    • 4 teams, Men’s, Women’s, Men’s Snowboarding, Women’s Snowboarding
    • The Prices for these events are the same regardless of size of teams.
      • US Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association Institute Fee: $146
      • Team registration for Men and Women’s Ski and Snowboarding: $584.00
      • Division Registration Fees: $2,400.00
      • Total Senate can provide: $1,565.00
    • They are confident that they can raise the other half of costs due to fundraising that will take place and through member dues for the club.1

Motion to increase Gas reimbursement Cap from $400 to $800, passed.

  • College of Democrats
    • Monthly voter registration drive to benefit students to get to vote. They have done this earlier this year and helped over 50 students get registered.
    • Hoping for new advertisements to be used all the time. Looking for 2 signs that are $36 each for a total of $72
    • Also hoping to add stamps to their budget to mail registrations to students. $100 for mailing.

  • Gaming Club
    • Looking to purchase a PS4 for future events and programs ($320.00)
    • Has 20 active members and on regular 50 players that will stop in
    • Works with letting other clubs use systems to benefit others
    • New consoles only come once every several (5-8 years) so there is not a huge need every year.
    • Club can pay $150.00 and Senate will pay $170.00
