  • PINK Women
    • Unsung Heroine Awards, 8th annual, recognize women who have not been noticed in RI for their developments and work put into the recognition of women. Asking for a speaker, Karen Civil, for the event. She does marketing with different companies such as Beats and other Car companies. She will be talking about her journey and how she has impacted women. Aiming for 160 to 200 people. Only a certain amount of seats will be open to public, about 50 public and 110 URI students. Not charging students and still determining a price for guests. They are looking for any source of donations from any department here at URI. They are already paying for catering, about a $3000. The event is planned to be a larger event because it is PINKs 10th
    • $3,600 would be the total for the Key note speaker. This covers travel, lodging, and rates for her coming and speaking.

  • URI Rocketry
  • Started last semester and was just established as a funded organization. The organization needs capital improvement in order to become fully started. The group wants different rocket kits and different accessories for the rockets. Included is launch controllers to reduce risk while launching rockets and they are also requiring different construction materials to better improve the quality of flight of the rockets. The group has about 20 members and there are a few experienced members who have built rockets and will teach the rest of the organization to build and launch rockets. This grant will allow all members to have a rocket and have multiple launch cartridges in order to sustain the group for the semester. Rockets are reusable but it’s only the engines that need to be repurchased. Future expenses will only be needed for repairs, if needed, engines, paint, and other rebuilding materials.
  • $1,044.52, Agreed to go down to $800 as a compromise because there is worry if the group cannot sustain itself.

  • WRIU
    • Financing for a trip to the A10 tournament. FM sports director will travel to New York in order to broadcast tournament for those who cannot attend. The costs will cover travel and lodging. It’s a 5 day tournament that they will be attending. 3 members will travel and to NY and stay in a single room. And travelling will be occur on subways in NY.
    • $787, Senate covers half so $393.50
