COMMITTEE DISCUSSION:

 

  • Continency Grant Presentation
    • Continency Grant presentation by the NAACP for a grant to put on programming on campus. The amount was for $228.47 for programming to hold an event about bringing multicultural Greek life to campus. The department of Student Affairs is backing this event but the group is not receiving any fiscal support from the department. The group is expecting 200+ people to attend. The money will be going towards food and beverage for the program. Kathy Collins will also be present for the program along with IFC and the Panhellenic Council. There is has not been fundraising done for this event. Quotes for the all items to be purchased were presented to the committee. The goal of the program is to promote and form a focus group to help with bringing multicultural Greek life to our campus. The Finance committee did not have reservations about giving the money. Chairwomen King motioned to approve the grant to NAACP $228.47. Vote: (7-0-0)

 

 

  • Continency Grant Presentation
    • Wildlife Society Continency Grant presentation by Chairwomen King. The group was not at the committee meeting but had already talked to Chairwomen King beforehand about the grant. The event is presentation on raptors (birds of prey) by the Raptor Rehabilitation Center. The group is asking for $200.00 for this program and the money would be going towards having the presentation. The event is taking place on East Farm and not on campus. Chairwomen King voiced concern about the movement of the program from Campus to East Farm. Chairwomen King did not want the grant to come from our programming line since the event was not going to be on campus. Committee Members agreed with Chairwomen king’s thoughts and concerns about the grant. Chairwomen King and the committee wanted clarification for why the event was not being held on the campus and not conclusion was reached until more information was provided by the group.

    • Finance Handbook discussion on purposed revisions for the Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Handbook.
