Discussion:
- Memory Team, is a student based organization, whose goal it is to create a student based group designed to help improve their memories. They are looking to compete in a national competition in NYC in April. The organization did not meet Student Senate election standards. They will be coming back next week.
- Kinesiology Organization, is a student based organization, whose goal it is to create a community among students in the Kinesiology major returned after completing their elections to Student Senate standards. Their organization is open membership. They currently have 42 active members. Amanda Rode moved to recognize the Kinesiology Organization as an unfunded Student Senate organization. [8,0,0]
- Anthropology and Antiquarian, is a student based organization, that is the result of the merging of two previously existing Student Organization. They met the Student Senate elections standards (Classics, and Anthropology). They decided to merge is because both groups were rather small, and had similar goals and purposes. They do not receive any funding from any other academic colleges. The organization has roughly 10-15 active members, but many more show up to planned/ organized events. The put on group programming such as Zoo, and museum visits, and even went to NYC last year. Amanda Rode moved to recognize the Anthropology and Antiquarian club as a funded Student Organized. - Rhody Rhapsodies, is a student based organization, with a focus on A Capella, and met the Student Senate elections standards. The group aims to work with other organizations such as SAA and the LGBTQ Center to compliment programming. Everyone is welcome to try out for the club however, they are selective in who they accept. The current members will vote on accepting the new members. Amanda Rode moved to recognize the group as an affiliate with funding. [8,0,0].
- Saudis Club, is a student based organization, whose goal it is to promote Saudi Arabian culture and create a sense of culture within the Saudi Arabian/ Arab students to help assimilate to college life. The group did not meet Student Senate elections standards. Therefore, the group will come back next week.
- There was an extensive conversation about DD Munchkins. (Glazed were deemed better than Jelly)
- Bruce Hamilton, Director of the Memorial Union/ the Senate’s faculty advisor, came in to talk to new and old Senators about information and policies of the Student Senate.
- Discussed the concerns about derecognition from failure to attend three mandatory meetings (Finance workshop/ Presidents meetings).
