Collegiate Science Math Investigative Learning Experience (S.M.I.L.E.)

• Grades 4 to 12, promote stem careers for children.
• Help mentor, guide them towards stem careers.
• Help hold challenge weekend, members have prior experience within the program.
• Hope to expand networking opportunities for stem careers, help high-school students set up shadow days for students to follow at URI.
• Have 15-20 regular members.
• Meet once a week, e-board meets once a week as well.
• Possibly A or R, somewhat of an academic element.
• Plan to do community service, not donate money.
• Reword: promoting stem careers by helping mentor children.
• Robotics club is an R so we could recognize them as an R as well.
• Elections: candidates nominated last Wednesday, has anonymous voting through survey monkey.
• Has to be actual secret ballots
• Still has until next Wednesday for nominations to be open and then vote.
• Will vote on Wednesday and return to SOARC committee next week.

 

Presidents meeting tonight, will get information for poster with all groups meeting times and locations.

 

Will continue to work on SOARC handbook and will hand over changes to bylaws committee.

 

Will be meeting with Finance chair to discuss category changes.
