COMMITTEE DISCUSSION:

  1. URI Capoeira Club
    1. Who attended: President and most of E-board
    2. Meeting time and place: classes in Fascitelli fitness center, Thursday at 7
    3. Members – 12 consistent members
    4. Re-held elections held to our standards: Yes
    5. Purpose: focus on Brazilian martial arts.  Combine dance, into martial arts
    6. Goals: increase cultural awareness on campus.  Promote diversity bring cultural background to campus.  Increase outreach and hold classes at other schools.
    7. RECOMMENDATION: FUNDED

    5. Purpose: Help students learn how to broadcast and help prepare students for a future in commercial broadcasting.
    6. Goals: produce several programs and shows a week.
    7. RECOMMENDATION: FUNDED

    5. Purpose: help students interested in climbing to meet like-minded peers and train together.

  • Student Entertainment Committee

 

      • 10 person exec board, faculty advisor, any undergraduate with at least 2.0 gpa.  Bring entertainment groups for student body.  Ensure proper programming for school year from welcome-week to end of year.  Spring fest, promo-items, brings in speakers to talk.  
      • Chairperson (President)
        • Oversees all the vice-presidents.  Compile agenda.  Attend two subcommittee meetings to ensure that they are running smoothly.  Ensure that executive member are running committees smoothly and if there are any problems.  Tiebreaker on votes for shows and issues.  Necessary for cohesion in the group.

      • Business manager
        • Work with chairperson to create budget.  Take care of finances for the office.  Responsible for $500,000 budget for the 2016 year.  Coordinates funding between each of the subcommittee.  Ensures that the budgets for each of the subcommittees meets their needs and that funding is appropriate. 6 office hours

        • Recruit for subcommittee, taking attendance, bonding activities, icebreakers. Monthly meetings.  Keep track of points for committee participations and awards prizes at the end of the year (prizes consist of excess free promotional items.  No items are paid for from the budget).  Take attendance of Admin board to ensure they meet their constitutional attendance requirements.  Help run meetings.  60-100 general members within subcommittee (some are members of more than one committee). If members short on members, request assistance from other committees. 4 office hours (more for other requirements.  Substantially more when hosting events).  Each committee holds several events (5-10 per semester). Necessary for the logistics for the events.  Needed for everything that the committee chair would be unable to add to their workload (especially on the day of the show).

      • Public Relations Coordinator
        • Oversees all outside contact between the SEC and the public at large (social media and outreach to other groups).  More than 10 hours a week conducting the duties of his office.  Conducts more public outreach and contact with college administrators.  Differs from advertising in that advertising focuses on promoting events.

    • Marketing and Promotion Director
      • Raising student awareness of organization.  Wants to conduct survey to see student awareness. Conducts advertising, creates graphics for social media and print outs.  Currently more orienting toward social media marketing.  Necessary to raise awareness of the radio to attract new listeners and members.  Currently the only member of the executive board that that is a marketing major (all the other members are currently journalism majors). Reaches out to alumni advertising and club sports.
