COMMITTEE DISCUSSION:

 

PAIDEA:

  • Met with the President and Treasurer of PAIDEA. PAIDEA is a Hellenic organization that focuses on Greek culture. They host fundraising events such as Greek dinners, parades, and dances.
  • They are currently constructing a building for their organization that is being funded by donations and they are doing the work themselves. Their advisor helps them find funding as he is the president of a national Greek organization. On average they raise $3,000 to $4,000 a year. They have twenty members and meet on Tuesdays at 6 pm.
  • Also year a yearly fundraiser for an outside cause, such a juvenile diabetes, but they are not purely philanthropic.
  • PAIDEA is recognized at Category R (4-0-0)

 

C.I.A.O. (Cultural Italian American Organization)

 

  • The goal of the club to celebrate Italian culture and language. They bring students who are interested together to celebrate the culture and have language activities on Fridays.
  • It currently has 20 active members and around 50 semi-active members. They will be at the student involvement fair and will be hosting a movie night.
  • The committee recommended that transition materials bet built up to make the group successful in future years and suggested a leadership retreat through Melissa Boyd Colvin at the Leadership office.
  • Club has been working closely with the Italian department and its professors however it has not received any funding from them.
  • C.I.A.O. is recognized at Category A (4-0-0)
